Escape from Tarkov received patch 1.3.0.0 on October 29, bringing a new Halloween event alongside progression and PvE adjustments. It also resolves several raid-related bugs, but the planned Unity 6 migration is no longer part of the October update window. That engine change is now assigned to version 1.3.5.0 in mid-November.
Skill progression works differently
Metabolism is the most directly affected skill. Its gains are now based on how much energy or hydration an item actually restores, rather than simply treating consumption as the important action. Players following established leveling routines may therefore need to reconsider when they use food and drinks.
The patch makes several related balance changes:
- all skills level substantially faster in Seasonal mode;
- diminishing returns have been rebalanced in progression calculations;
- weapon skill leveling has been corrected to match the pace of other skills;
- player-deployed tripwires remain active for longer.
The tripwire adjustment is not just a progression detail. Longer persistence gives placed traps a wider window to influence movement through an area, including after the player who set them has moved elsewhere.
Halloween, loot interaction, and tougher PvE
The new Halloween event arrives with the in-game weather season changing to fall. The Expansion Hub also receives two Hideout customization sets, with further themed options intended for later updates.
Raid interaction has been adjusted as well. Battlestate Games changed the colliders on some currency and valuable items so they are easier to locate and pick up. On Icebreaker, Interchange, and Shoreline, various visual defects involving geometry and colliders have also been addressed.
PvE Zone now includes high-difficulty PMC bots that can appear on high-level locations. A separate fix changes their target logic: PMC bots should consistently regard players as hostile instead of behaving incorrectly in some situations. That combination may make PvE raids less forgiving even though it is presented partly as a bug fix.
Raid fixes now, Unity 6 later
Patch 1.3.0.0 corrects the Partisan spawn-chance calculation in raids without low-PMC-karma players. It also fixes a weapon malfunction issue that could leave magazines impossible to load or unload.
Other corrections cover field of view with certain optics, breathing volume for some PMC voices, and interactive trader scenes that were inaccessible to part of the player base. The Unity 6 transition is the notable item that did not make this release. Version 1.3.5.0 is now expected to deliver the engine upgrade in mid-November.
What this means for players using software
The notes do not announce an anti-cheat update, so they provide no factual reason to assume that a new detection system has arrived or that an HWID spoofer must be replaced. That is not the same as guaranteed compatibility. Any client patch can shift signatures, addresses, or data layouts used by ESP, aimbot, and related modules.
This update deserves additional testing around loot displays and interaction features because item colliders were modified. Geometry and optic FOV fixes can also affect overlays or camera-dependent functions even when the underlying feature list appears unchanged.
Before entering a raid, check the software update status page and wait if a build has not been confirmed for 1.3.0.0. The Escape from Tarkov software catalog for the current game version provides the relevant game-specific options, but availability should not be treated as a compatibility promise. Check again when 1.3.5.0 arrives: an engine migration to Unity 6 may present a larger compatibility boundary than the Halloween and balance changes in this patch.
