MECCHA CHAMELEON received update 4.2.0 on October 28, expanding the game with Team Battle, two maps, and three body types. The more consequential change may be the clone cooldown: an ability previously limited by a 45-second wait can now be used again after only five seconds.
Clone play has been accelerated
Clones are becoming much easier to deploy, but the update also reduces their scoring value. A clone now awards half as many Overlook Points as the original body. This creates a clear trade-off: players gain more frequent access to decoys, while farming points from those decoys becomes less effective.
The shorter cooldown may lead to matches containing more false targets at any given moment. That makes quick identification more important, particularly when several bodies occupy the same area. A rare bug that prevented clones from being removed has also been fixed.
Another loophole involved Petit Chameleon. Certain actions could make it available even when its use was supposed to be restricted; update 4.2.0 closes that route.
Team Battle arrives with two new arenas
The new Team Battle mode adds a team-based option to MECCHA CHAMELEON, although the announcement does not describe its rules in detail. It launches alongside Chaotic Kitchen and Paper Island, bringing two more locations into map rotation.
Random selection has been adjusted so that the same map should not appear twice consecutively. Players also have three additional body choices:
- Macho;
- Octopus;
- Polygon.
These additions are accompanied by a redesigned body-selection screen. With a team mode, clones, and a broader set of appearances in play, correctly distinguishing entities becomes more relevant than it was in modes where every other player could simply be treated as an opponent.
UI, scoring fixes, and lower network traffic
Version 4.2.0 changes the main interface and introduces optional Overlook Lines, which can be toggled in the settings. The patch also addresses two scoring problems: hosts should now receive Discovery Points correctly, and Overlook Points should register more reliably while performing affected poses.
Characters standing close together should no longer move vertically because of the reported proximity bug. The developer also says network traffic has been reduced. The notes do not explain whether message structures changed, so this should be treated as an optimization rather than evidence of a new protocol.
What this means for players using software
This is a full client update touching UI elements, character models, match logic, clones, and networking. Internal tools may need refreshed offsets or signatures even though the announcement does not mention those technical details. Screen-based automation and overlays should also be checked against the redesigned interface before old profiles are reused.
Team Battle creates an additional compatibility test: software with team filters must recognize allies correctly. The new body types may require updated model classification, though the patch notes provide no evidence that hitboxes themselves changed. With clones available every five seconds, ESP configurations may also need cleaner labels or stricter filtering to avoid a crowded display.
Reduced network traffic could affect tools that depend on packet behavior, but the announcement does not confirm a packet-format change. More importantly, it contains no stated anti-cheat or HWID update, so the patch alone is not a reason to replace a spoofer or assume a new detection system has been introduced.
Before starting a session, check the software update statuses and wait for explicit 4.2.0 support if a build is marked unavailable. Relevant options can be found in the MECCHA CHAMELEON software catalog, with compatibility verified per build rather than assumed from the game page.
